An award-winning designer and researcher working at the intersection of design, health, and technology - Leah focusses on how design can scaffold major shifts in healthcare towards digitisation and personalisation of care, whilst also working on insane projects combining research, design and devices like jewellery to administer insulin through the skin for diabetics; biosignal sensing emergency jewellery; and swallowable devices to detect disease.
This ep covers everything from careers in academia, to her take on emerging trends, career pathways, design process & outcomes, charting complex healthcare journeys & developing ecosystems of careHealthcare’s middle children: Potential disruptors flying under the radar by Rock Health - Consumerisation and digitisation of healthcare are happening at a rapid pace (whether you like it or not). And while there’s a lot of focus on the Big tech giants, and the shiny new startups… there’s another group worth noting.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, in some shape or form… every company is and will become a health company. And these “Middle Children”, the retail players, tech orchestrators and boss brands are somewhat perfectly poised to be big movers in health. With many already making a good ruckus. Worth a read.
