1️⃣ Rock Healths Q3 Funding Report for US Digital Health is out
And *shock* numbers are low. In fact, they are reportedly lowest they’ve been since 2019. Find the report here.
But, nothing lasts forever and straight up we all knew it was likely a little unsustainable. Will we rebound? Probably. There is a HEAP of dry powder sitting there behind the scenes. But, after a few hard (and necessary) lessons, people are being careful (often with good reason). And, starting to learn how to find, back and construct the right teams and businesses for success. As for when? No one knows.
But digital health, and healthtech, is still in its absolute infancy. And, the best is no doubt yet to come.
*Promise I’ll actually publish the funding article I said I’d do and go into this more soon
2️⃣ Wearables are finally making their way into mainstream healthcare….kinda
Google & Fitbit announced the launch new cloud analytics tools to help hospitals harness wearables data
Whilst people love to sh*t on big tech, and they tend to move a little slow - they also think long term and have always had the potential to make some serious waves. Or at least, try.
After laying low, Google Cloud has finally announced a new service, Device Connect for Fitbit in conjunction with Fitbit wearables - to help health organisations and research bodies actually capture and utilise data for patient monitoring and/or research health projects.
An estimated 80% of healthcare happens outside the hospital, and lets be real, with the rising cost and lack or resourcing, in a not too distant future probably more. So theoretically this aims to help bring some visibility to that - and help patients, and professionals more using data once they actually leave the hospital.
3️⃣ Masters of Scale: Why mission matters more than products, w/Noom’s Saeju Jeong
Noom is one of the early success stories (*success is always subjective) of a “digital thereapeutic” or digital based health program. With a focus on utilising psychology to help people lose weight, build healthier habits and prevent serious health conditions.
This pod goes into how they came to be - and how their focus on mission, ft. multiple pivots to truly create a product that “makes a difference” gives me a hope in the world where preventative health truly struggles to succeed, and big corporations profit from illness.
Fun Fact: Their OG model was Peloton 5 years too early!! Timing is everything.
In case you haven’t listened before, Masters of Scale is one of my favourite podcasts from the startup world hosted by Reid Hoffman (Founder of linkedin, co-founder of Paypal and prolific angel investor). Its brilliantly produced with epic story telling and A-list guests. Highly recommend… well… every episode.

We’re looking for a legend to join our small but mighty crew for a few hours each week to help us with all our ace events
Role TLDR; You’ll be helping us ship 1-2 events per month. Including help wrangle the people, partners, places and promo. Ie helping with content (canva, eventbrite, copy), getting our sick sponsors and speakers aligned, locked in and briefed, and getting the word out to our awesome network.
We estimate ~3-5 hours per week.
Theres also scope for being creative and helping us create and execute new concepts. With room for growth if interested 💃
Keen? Flick me a note 💌
Or know someone who might be? Share it with them (pretty please) 🙏 😊
Catch you soon
