Need to be made clear that the ‘housing estate’ if brands including the nib example are simply skimming the healthcare/delivery/outcome space. These sirens are not doing anything significant for people with real healthcare challenges - meaning, the real frequent flyers of expensive care, the ones that are left behind. That needs to be accepted across the board and not deflected by ‘it will come’ rhetoric. Many people don’t have the luxury of eating for ‘it’ to arrive.

Also, this piece should highlight to readers that that despite the success of the ‘old school’ system, it also demonstrates Australia is becoming more isolated, rapidly becoming an also ran in terms of actually using any tech that’s developed...

Great point and couldn't agree more re the isolation and falling a little behind and very island like with tech implementation, adoption and commercialisation...

And very true re examples listed and the more meatier issues within health. I hope that tech can help to scale some of the great on the ground and public health initiatives and solutions... But sadly still think that will take time.

How do you think we get more funds and attention on these problems Ross?

Apologies for the thumb tapped typos.

Just imagine if all the hospital CTO/CIO’s and CCIO’s got together and said ‘look, we all know budgets are tight but, I reckon we could scrounge up $x so, together that would collectively be $xM’… then, maybe ‘peak bodies’ like AIDH could actually do something practical, supportive and helpful? It’s be an opportunity for the system to proactively help itself instead of waiting for handouts.

I don’t believe that digital health in the Australian public sector will have interest from any private sector investors, ever. They’re investors and healthtech industry participants need to remember that they only care about a return first and foremost. Any social benefit will serve their marketing only…despite there being the personal feel good factor that is momentary..
